Abu Dhabi International Airport, is the UAE’s second busiest airport, and the home base of Abu Dhabi’s flag carrier Etihad. Launched in 2003, Etihad Airways continues to expand rapidly and now has a global route network that connects Abu Dhabi to United States, Australia and Europe.
A viable alternative is to fly into Dubai International Airport in the neighboring emirate of Dubai and continue by limousine or taxi. Travelling by car along the five-lane E11 highway between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the country’s heaviest travelled route, is a 130 km drive that takes approximately two hours.
