After 10 years of nightclubs, I joined the world of luxury hospitality.

I worked as a bellman, front desk and reservations agent as well as a bartender.

Traveled to Las Ventanas al Paraíso for one day to learn how to prepare a USD 160 margarita.

The reward of joining the Rosewood Sand Hill operation and serving the guests who followed me there. This is an enormous compliment.

I’m from Santa Barbara and my first job in 1995 was in the security team at a local nightclub. After 10 years of the nightclub scene, I completely flipped the coin over and accepted a role in the luxury market. The transferrable skills may not be obvious at first glance, but never underestimate what experiences may prepare you for. I became part of a prestigious renovation project and multiple hospitality service operations. I still reflect, on my good fortune and smile at my confidence at that time.

We always return to our roots, and I did just that. A year into this multitasking adventure, I decided to focus on the bar, became the lead bartender and in 2010 headed north to Palo Alto and joined the Rosewood Sand Hill team. I deliberately start every day with a goal in mind: make our guests and associates happy. My colleagues are my barometer. If I can make them laugh or smile and share knowledge then I am productive. My favorite question is: “How do you manage to always be in a good mood?” To me this is the indicator of personal success. During the most chaotic times I reach into my nightclub experience toolbox to maintain composure and calm things down.

My father told me once that I should find something I love doing and make it your job – I did, and haven't stopped loving it since. Moreover, I haven’t stopped loving our company’s culture and the Rosewood Difference.
