The Gallery Dining Room in New York City

The Gallery

Exotic, elegant décor by legendary decorator Renzo Mongiardino sets the stage for a private retreat favored by the rich, the famous and the beautiful since the hotel's inception. Inspired by the sultan's dining room at the Topikapi Palace in Turkey, The Gallery is divided into two tiers.

The upper gallery is wrapped in deep red, hand-painted wallpaper. Banquettes made of antique kilims and red-fringed velvet chairs invite lingering. The lower gallery features an intricate blue-and-gold wallpaper, inset with intaglio-like views of such landmarks as Venice's Church of the Saulte and Istanbul's Hagia Sophia.

The Gallery serves an all day a la care menu from 11 a.m. to 12 midnight featuring The Carlyle classic such as Hudson Valley Foie Gras Terrine, Steak tartar (ground a la minute ) or traditional seafood or Caesar salad. The Gallery also serves a complete English tea with exotic teas (including Assam, Lapsang Souchang and Verveine), traditional tea sandwiches, scones with authentic Devonshire cream and fresh pastries. Served from 3-5:30 p.m. daily.
