Yves Durif Salon Expands at The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel
May. 05, 2012
Upper East Side Landmark to Unveil Beautifully Redesigned Beauty Enclave
NEW YORK, NY - This spring the acclaimed Yves Durif Salon at The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel will redefine the concept of the modern salon. After an extensive renovation, the salon now boasts a trio of tranquil, intimate spaces that enable guests to enjoy a new level of personalized service and comfort. Under the tutelage of Yves Durif, stylists and colorists collaborate closely to deliver a bespoke approach to hair design. The newly renovated space also includes a Salon Privé, where high-profile guests can enjoy all of the salon's offerings in complete privacy.
Designed by Warren Red, the salon's overall aesthetic draws from The Carlyle's legendary black and white art deco design. Each room has its own unique character. The color lab is cocoon-like and free from the hum of blow dryers, which allows for intimate conversation. The cutting room is bright and airy with high ceilings and impressive acoustics that allow guests to enjoy Durif's extensive and eclectic music library. The Privé is quiet and intimate; separated from the rest of the salon by a sensual metal mesh curtain and adorned by exceptional photography from Yves' personal collection.
In addition to the new decor, visitors will be treated to plant derived, environmentally-friendly products from Phyto and their newly released Subtil hair color line, which includes permanent and demi-permanent colors. Subtil features ultra-low concentrations of ammonia, ensuring a nearly odorless color experience. Durif also offers his clients the best of styling with hair tools from his partnership with Sedu.
Since relocating to The Carlyle in 2008, Yves clientele has continued to grow. Over the years, Yves and his team have garnered a sophisticated following ranging from downtown style-setters to Upper East Side socialites. Durif's passion for his craft is evident in the salon's details: luxe, comfortable surroundings and a synergy between stylist, colorist & makeup artist.
Standing at the corner of 76th Street and Madison Avenue, The Carlyle has been an enduring landmark for East Side social life since 1930. The internationally acclaimed hotel has always been ranked amongst the best in the world, and was named Top Hotel in New York City in Travel + Leisure’s 500 World’s Best Hotels list in 2010 and one of the top 20 U.S City Hotels by Harper’s Hideaway’s 2007, 2008 and 2009 Reader Survey. The Carlyle's new Sense, A Rosewood Spa® was named one of the top 50 Hottest Spas of 2009 by Conde Nast Traveler. The Carlyle is a 35-story, 188-room hotel that has long understood the aesthetic sensibilities of its clientele and is surrounded by galleries, designer boutiques and the city’s most popular art museums.
