BIO: Tennis Director Bengy Robins

With more than 30 years of experience in the tennis industry – as a tour professional, teaching professional, pro tour administrator and player management executive – Benjy Robins provides the Tennis Club at CordeValle with expertise that is as extensive as it is diverse.

Upon the completion of his college tennis career at San Diego State University, where he was an NCAA Academic All-American, Robins played on the professional tour for three years. He then spent 11 years with the men’s ATP Tour, where he held the positions of Tour Manager, Director of Player Services and Head Teaching Clinician.

Prior to joining Rosewood CordeValle in 2011, Robins was a tennis professional at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club, Moon Valley CC in Phoenix, as well as Imperial Tennis Club and Seascape Swim and Racquet Club, both in Aptos, Calif. Having coached several players in top 100 in the world, Robins also has coached at the collegiate level, at both Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, Calif., and San Jose State University. He continues to be involved with select pro tour tennis events.

In addition to teaching at prestigious tennis clubs, Robins served as the National Promotions Director for Adidas Tennis and then began to focus on sports management and marketing in pro tennis and hockey. At Octagon, one of the biggest sports marketing firms in the world, he managed the New Products Division; with Advantage Sports Management he was vice-president of Business Development, as well as handling contract negotiations, marketing and player recruitment. He later formed BDR Sports, an international sports marketing and management firm where he served as President.

Born in Portland, Robins was raised in Mountain View, Calif., less than an hour north of Rosewood CordeValle. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in international relations from San Diego State University, a Master of Business Administration from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University and a Masters of Science in Kinesiology from San Jose State. Robins now resides in San Martin with his wife and their two children.
