Rosewood Corniche Unveils Hatem Al-Akeel Designer Uniforms
Oct. 21, 2010
JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA - Saudi Arabia's premier hotel Rosewood Corniche has unveiled new uniforms by celebrated designer Hatem Al-Akeel for the staff of its flagship Asian restaurants. Following the remarkable success of his brand Toby (meaning 'my thobe' in Arabic), which is now stocked around the region and has been worn by international fashion stylist Derek Khan, Hatem Al-Akeel, a Saudi national, has recently launched h.a which specialises in corporate designs for ultra luxury hotels and restaurants. Thanks to Hatem's unique upbringing, living in Europe, the USA and Saudi Arabia, the young designer's signature style is to combine traditional and modern clothing which stand out for their originality and elegance.
Fashionable and fun, the uniforms for the staff of Noodles restaurant are dark grey and red to echo the sizzling and rich atmosphere of Shanghai's streets, while the team at Ginza I Chome will wear beautiful light grey and purple uniforms, reflecting the warm and relaxing atmosphere of the Japanese restaurant. Hatem describes both designs as modern and polished and he is especially fond of the bright, contemporary colours chosen for Noodles and prides himself in the elegant logo he created for the Ginza I Chome designs.
"Rosewood Corniche, as part of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts merges the Western culture of perfectionism and ultra luxury with the Arabic sense of warmth and hospitality," said Hatem Al-Akeel. "Designing uniforms for Ginza I Chome and Noodles has been a pleasure because he concept of the restaurants themselves was very inspiring and I was able to capitalise on my passion for designing clothes where East meets West."
Hans-Peter Leitzke, Managing Director of Rosewood Corniche, said, "Hatem Al-Akeel is a celebrated Saudi designer who has a global perspective and has perfectly captured the Rosewood Sense of Place in creating uniforms as unique as those for the staff at Ginza I Chome and Noodles."
Designed for both business and leisure travellers, Rosewood Corniche is ideally positioned on Jeddah's Corniche, one of the city's most impressive districts.
