Dallas and the surrounding areas boast a calendar of local events that will keep you busy any time of the year. Even the two sister Rosewood properties host charity events to benefit the local community. Rosewood Crescent Hotel annually hosts Crescent Fall Celebration in late September. This event takes place in the Fountain courtyard and features food from all the restaurants of The Crescent with wine pairings, mini treatments from The Spa at The Crescent, entertainment and fashions by Stanley Korshak. The event benefits the children’s programs of AT&T Performing Arts Center in adjacent downtown Dallas.
Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek hosts a two part event benefitting arts organization, TACA. One part is Party on the Green; an outdoor food festival featuring all the Rosewood Chefs from around the world. The second part is the TACA Gala, a lavish gala dinner featuring a live auction and the fabulous food of Executive Chef, Bruno Davaillon.
Other neighborhood gatherings feature the culinary expertise for which Dallas is renowned. These include Dallas Wine and Food Festival, Savor Dallas, Taste of Addison and Octoberfest also in Addison. Others take advantage of the great weather like the Turkey Trot, Jingle Bell Run and White Rock Marathon. Then some are in local neighborhoods like Bishop Arts District where you can join in on the festivities for Bastille on Bishop and Oak Cliff Mardi Gras.
No event listing would be complete however without mentioning The State Fair of Texas at Fair Park. Built for a World Fair in 1936 celebrating 100 years since the Republic of Texas, the park and its buildings are a gem of Art Deco design. For three weeks every October Big Tex welcomes visitors to Fair Park for a day of fun on the rides, at the cattle and livestock shows, at the featured Broadway show at the Music Hall with Dallas Summer Musicals, the car show or any of the many attractions, craft fairs and rides on the Midway. It is also the best people watching and the best fried food in the country. Try fried Coke, fried butter and fried peach cobbler and some of the best fried green tomatoes anywhere!

Kaboom Town in Addison – a fourth of July celebration in Addison. Rated one of the top places to watch fireworks in the country by the American Pyrotechnics Association, USA Today, Travel + Leisure and The Wall Street Journal, the nationally-recognized fireworks show can be seen from anywhere in Addison, including the Addison Circle Park watching party, many of Addison’s 170 restaurants, 22 hotels and more.
The dazzling 30-minute fireworks show presented by Time Warner Cable is choreographed to music and a live radio simulcast on 100.3 JACK FM. Plus there is great food, live music on the Dos Equis Stage and the spectacular Addison Airport Air Show featuring the Cavanaugh Flight Museum Warbird Flyover.
