Recently voted the “Best Sports City” by Sporting News Magazine, Dallas/Fort Worth is home to the World Champion Dallas Mavericks, the Dallas Stars, the Dallas Cowboys, two-time American League Champion Texas Rangers and FC Dallas Soccer. Throughout the year you will find some sort of sporting event to attend.

The American Airlines Center, not even a mile away, is where the Dallas Mavericks basketball team and the Dallas Stars hockey team play their home games. A state-of-the-art arena is an anchor to Victory Park. The AT&T Plaza at the South entrance to the arena has restaurants and shops and is the location for the local ABC news broadcast. The large video boards show the games and in the summer show movies. The annual Big D NYE event is also held on the Plaza with live music and fireworks at New Year’s.

The Texas Rangers play at The Ballpark in Arlington.  Modeled after many of the historic ballparks, The Ballpark in Arlington brings in families from all over to see the Texas Rangers. With new renovations, there is a new restaurant and more air conditioned spaces for during those hot summer months.

Cowboys Stadium, the top-of-the-line stadium in Arlington right near the Ballpark is where the Dallas Cowboys play their games. This billion dollar stadium has events throughout the year including college football games, The Cotton Bowl game, concerts, soccer games, boxing events and much more. With seating capacity for 80,000 people, a retractable roof and the largest video board some seriously big events happen at Cowboys Stadium.

Cowboys Stadium may be big, but even bigger is the Texas Motor Speedway in Ft Worth hosts NASCAR and Indy Races every year. With capacity over 190,000, crowds swarm on race weekends.

For a smaller football stadium, the Cotton Bowl hosts an annual bowl game, although it’s no longer the Cotton Bowl itself. Throughout the football season, there are various high school and college football games at the Cotton Bowl.

Located North of town, right up the Dallas Tollway in Frisco is Pizza Hut Park where FC Dallas, a professional soccer team plays. With a family atmosphere and nearby shops and restaurants, it is a popular event to attend. Many concerts take place at Pizza Hut Park for a lively outdoor atmosphere. Not far from Pizza Hut Park, also in Frisco, is Dr Pepper Ballpark where the Frisco Roughriders, a minor league baseball team plays. This is great family fun with a swimming pool in the outfield and a mini-ballpark look and feel.
