July 1, 2014

Rosewood Hotel Georgia, Vancouver’s preeminent luxury hotel, is pleased to announce that the hotel will host the kickoff reception for the ninth annual Fishing for Kids Tournament at its popular alfresco lounge Reflections on August 23, 2014. The special evening kicks off this year’s four-day event, August 24 – 27, 2014, and will feature a live private concert by Canadian musician Tom Cochrane and appearances by well-known NHL players, including Vancouver Canuck Dan Hamhuis, as well as Stanley Cup Champion and tournament co-founder Willie Mitchell.

Presented by Rosewood Hotel Georgia’s owners Delta Development, the exclusive evening brings together Vancouver’s industry and community leaders. In addition to live performances, guests can enjoy gourmet fare prepared by Rosewood Hotel Georgia’s esteemed Executive Chef Ken Nakano and innovative cocktails created by Head Bartender and master mixologist Robyn Gray as they prepare for the four-day catch and release tournament.

“For the last eight years, Fishing for Kids has enhanced the lives of children and their families in the British Columbia community, and we are honored to once again be partnering with such a respected and distinguished charitable organization,” said Managing Director Bernhard Wimmer. “With such an incredible lineup of musical performances and an exciting menu of food and cocktails, this year’s reception should truly inspire excitement for the tournament that is to come.”

Since its inception in 2006, the Fishing for Kids Tournament has grown into one of the premier fundraising events in British Columbia, raising over $5 million for local children’s charities. In 2013, Fishing for Kids reached its goal of raising over $1 million for the Canucks Autism Network. This year, the event is larger than ever and includes forty-four individuals who will compete in the catch and release fishing tournament to benefit the Canucks Autism Network, supporting children and families living with autism in British Columbia.
