The Estate House
The fine-dining focal point of Jumby Bay, The Estate House is a stylish Spanish Colonial plantation house on the western edge of the island. Set overlooking the sea and the lights of Antigua and surrounded by a fragrant garden of palm trees, hibiscus and wild orchids, the classic colonial house (c.1830) was once the centerpiece of the island sugar plantation. Now it's a sanctuary of civilized dining highlighted by romantic sophistication and Mediterranean-inspired cuisine.
The Mediterranean-inspired menu of The Estate House features selections of short courses and entrees with bold flavors. Among the many menu highlights: "Ajo Blanco" Chilled Almond Garlic Soup with black olive oil and extra virgin olive oil; Palm Heart Salad with garden greens, tomato, celery, and passion fruit dressing; Lobster Risotto with roasted prawns, spinach, almond and balsamic glaze; Grilled Lamb Cutlets with grilled new potato, carrot, broccoli and bacon jus, and Crisped Whole Island Fish with sweet and sour sauce, plum sauce of sweet chili glaze and vegetable fried rice, and Hearth Baked Locally Caught Snapper in an Aromatic Salt Crust, which is shared for two while dining on the beach as an ultimate island dining experience. The Verandah Restaurant and Kitchen
More than a restaurant and bar, The Verandah is the crossroads of Jumby Bay Island—the unofficial clubhouse of island owners and hub of the resort. Situated on the western edge of Jumby Bay, everything passes through the Verandah, where exciting enhancements—a new bar, expanded boutique, concierge area, enhanced dining and lounge areas, and a residential-style kitchen with a unique wood-burning oven - create welcoming culinary experiences.
Set next to the sparkling sea, the open-air Verandah Restaurant welcomes diners amid cool sea breezes. Stylish without pretention, the sun-filled setting is perfect for breakfast, lunch and dinner which are served daily. In the afternoon and evening, toes-in-the-sand elegance reigns as guests indulge in "Carib-Pean" cuisine that invokes the simplicity of light European food styles reminiscent of coastal France yet prepared with a simple, light, and casual approach utilizing products local to the beautiful island. Highlights include freshly caught seafood, hearth baked specialties, grilled lobsters, select prime and aged steaks, rotisserie chicken and spectacularly light desserts featuring local fruits. Meals are served on the beautiful white sand beach surrounded by the soft glow of torches in the evening light. Back inside, the traditional Caribbean plantation style of the Verandah Restaurant is highlighted with all new bar and lounge areas, adorned in tropical shades of blue and orange that combines with light fabrics and natural wood tones, framing the dramatic ocean view. Sophisticated but casual beach chic design provides a comfortable setting for the light, relaxed fare that includes a healthful menu of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, pastas and pizzas.
An in-house butcher carefully selects meats from an artisanal vendor, which are aged to perfection in special coolers and hand cut to order. Meanwhile, participants of cooking classes and select dining events can feast their eyes on an artfully presented "market display" of produce and gourmet delights which will inspire and intrigue diners.
As welcoming as your favorite neighborhood watering hole, The Verandah Bar fills a tranquil, seaside setting soothed by the sound of palms rustling in the wind. The bar is "island central" for cocktails as well as the news of the day and quickly becomes guests' favorite meeting place. Whether lounging below the whirling ceiling fans or milling about with drinks in hand, guests enjoy relaxing with cocktails from a unique selection of rums and resort originals like Antigua Smile (Crème de Banana, Rum, and Pineapple Juice) and Jumby Jamboree (Coconut, Banana, and Irish Cream sprinkled with Cinnamon).
The bar's beverage menu also includes signature tropical cocktails and fresh fruit juices, an impressive selection of internationally acclaimed wine as well as imported and domestic beers, sodas and spirits. Additionally, the Ice Tea Bar offers a daily selection of ice teas and snacks.
The Pool Grille
Swimmers and sun worshipers can enjoy healthy selections from the new Pool Grille. Nestled between the Caribbean Sea and the dramatic oceanfront infinity pool, the Grille offers light, healthy and casual breakfast and lunch fare, light snacks and cooling treats, and an array of refreshing cocktails, mocktails, smoothies, fruit juices and teas. The Grille's terrace is also a popular venue for weddings and special events.
Jumby Bay Culinary Classes The Verandah Kitchen is site of the Jumby Bay's cooking classes designed to introduce novice and experienced cooks to the art of Jumby Bay cuisine. Created by the resort's culinary team and led by Chef Juan Bochenski, the program offers a hands-on experience in resort specialties infused with island flavors. To ensure a personalized experience, the classes are limited to eight participants. Later in the evening, class participants and their partners are invited to a private dinner where the chef prepares the demonstrated dishes for all to enjoy. Classes are held thrice weekly in the afternoon.
Burger Mania Jumby Bay's Burger Mania menu lines up specialty burgers created by the resort's culinary team with fresh ingredients and taste sensations transporting diners from the Caribbean to the Asian subcontinent and beyond. The Burger Mania menu is available at The Verandah Restaurant. Selections include a Lobster Burger, with wasabi mayonnaise and pickled ginger, a Mediterranean Tuna Burger, with lemon basil mayonnaise, and a Tropical Burger, with mango cilantro salsa, just to name a few.
Private Dinners Ideal for an intimate gathering or a small group, private dinners can be arranged on the beach, in the Wine Room at The Estate House or in The Verandah Kitchen. A personal server, who can advise on wine pairings, presents an exclusive menu prepared by Executive Chef Bochenski. Dedicated musical entertainment can also be provided.
Jumby To-Go If they really must leave, departing guests can take the tantalizing aromas and tastes of Jumby home with them on the Jumby To-Go service offers guests a choice of special menus, or a personalized menu suited to particular tastes. Gourmet "fly-away" meals are packaged in an insulated, easy-to-carry bag with shoulder strap. The service caters to those taking commercial carriers as well as guests traveling by private plane.
