The charming and historic town of San Miguel de Allende captures the senses, with its colorful colonial-style buildings, noted art scene and vibrant culinary world. The year-old Rosewood San Miguel de Allende perpetuates its A Sense of Place® philosophy, having just announced partnerships with local art institutes, artists, galleries and collectors to form the Rosewood San Miguel Arts Program. The program showcases the cultural and artistic wealth of San Miguel by offering guests a multitude of interactive, arts education and language classes. These programs are easily facilitated through Rosewood San Miguel’s newly formed Art Concierge, who learns about each guest’s creative ambitions and develops a uniquely customized and memorable San Miguel de Allende experience.
“Art has always been a hugely important part of the culture of San Miguel. Not only is San Miguel de Allende home to an enclave of talented artists, important art galleries and world famous art schools, it is literally home to hundreds of aspiring artists. Working closely with the local art community, we are delighted to be able to offer our guests this unmatched immersion into San Miguel’s artist culture, where there is truly something for any and all guests,” said Rosewood San Miguel de Allende’s Managing Director Christian Tavelli.
Through Rosewood’s Art Concierge, the hotel can offer “Art” Workshops where guests can explore various hands-on, artist pursuits for a few hours to up to week-long programs. These include, but are not limited to:
From art enthusiast, to art collector, to those who are solely interested in seeing some spectacular artist studios and participating in an interactive one-on-one class, the Art Concierge has the connections and knows all the insider tips to provide a truly incredible immersion into San Miguel.
Rosewood San Miguel has an extensive and spirited collection of contemporary Mexican art exhibited throughout public areas of the hotel, consisting of works by prominent artists active in various regions of Mexico and includes a few expatriate artists who have made San Miguel their second home. The paintings of these artists reflect the rich cultural landscape and vibrant chromatics of Mexico. Most of the artists represented in the collection have shown their art in museums in Mexico and abroad. Their combined art creates both a collective expression of Mexico and an intimate experience of each artist’s unique visual vocabulary that draws on a complex history of imagery (pre-Hispanic, colonial, Escuela Mexicana, post-revolutionary to 20th-century European and North American vanguard).
