BIO: Managing Director Michael Casey

Michael Casey's career in hospitality began nearly 35 years ago in the peninsula region of the San Francisco Bay Area where the new Rosewood Sand Hill is located.  With more than two decades of experience and success in the management of luxury hotel operations, he now manages this newest addition to Rosewood Hotels & Resorts' already outstanding collection of notable properties, and oversees all areas of the 123-room hotel and spa, including Madera, the property's signature restaurant, and Sense, A Rosewood Spa®.

Casey joined Rosewood Hotels & Resorts following his most recent position as general manager of San Francisco's Hotel Palomar, part of the Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group, where he re-energized a nine-year-old property and led his team to significant gains in business and sales. Casey began his career in the hospitality industry in 1974 as a bellman at the Hyatt Burlingame in California before moving up the ranks to become general manager of the Hyatt Regency in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Casey returned to the San Francisco Bay Area to take on the role of opening general manager for the Omni San Francisco Hotel  and later oversaw the complete renovation of The Argent Hotel in San Francisco and its re-emergence as the Westin San Francisco Market Street.

Fueled by a passion to deliver the highest quality of service, Casey's career has been marked by a series of prestigious awards and honors.  These have included the chairmanship of the Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau; the Omni General Manager of the Year for Service Excellence Award, presented to Casey in 2002, 2003 and 2004; and the directorship of the San Francisco Multi-Employer Group from 2002 through 2006.
