Rosewood San Miguel de Allende Debuts in Mexico's Most Historic City

SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE, MEXICO - Nestled in the mountains just north of Mexico City, Rosewood San Miguel de Allende officially opened its doors to guests on February 4, 2011. The new resort pays homage to San Miguel de Allende’s storied past while staying true to Rosewood’s philosophy of providing guests with a memorable experience of unparalleled luxury and understated elegance. Under the helm of Executive Chef Carlos Hannon, the resort features a variety of culinary venues, offering a range of distinctive, farm-to-table dishes. In 1826, the town adopted the name “San Miguel de Allende” in honor of Mexican Independence hero “Igancio de Allende.” At the resort's signature restaurant, 1826, the country's heritage is continually celebrated with traditional and innovative Mexican culinary expressions. 1826 has established partnerships with nearby farms and food producers, including Via Organica, a local non-profit organization that works with the culinary team to supply various fresh organic products. Boasting an exterior terrace, the 1826 Tequila Bar offers more than 120 labels of tequila and over 20 different mescals. The perfect place for a pre-dinner drink, the “Tequilier,” or tequila sommelier will help guests understand the process, traditions and folklore behind the vast selections of tequilas.
The Luna Rooftop Tapas Bar serves up savory authentic international tapas that can be enjoyed individually or family style. A tempting, casual place to linger after the day’s pursuits, this al fresco setting presents breathtaking views of La Parroquia, the city and magnificent sunsets. For more casual culinary experiences taking full advantage of San Miguel’s warm sun, Agua, the poolside restaurant and bar, offers refreshing beverages, specialty cocktails, Mexican snacks and light fare. In addition, the resort presents a variety of personal dining experiences for special occasions. For guests seeking a truly unique and exclusive environment for private gatherings, the resort’s beautiful 2,000-bottle wine room, La Cava, is available by special arrangement. The chef and sommelier will pamper food and wine lovers with special tasting menus and fine wine pairings.
Located on the top floor of the resort's main building, Sense, A Rosewood Spa® is enveloped by San Miguel de Allende’s recognized positive energy.
