“We’re thrilled to bring Sophie’s world to life and offer our smallest guests a whimsical and memorable experience during their visit to Manhattan,” says Giovanni Beretta, Managing Director of The Carlyle.

Acclaimed children’s author Kelly Florio Kasouf’s first book, The Super Adventures of Sophie and the City: All in a Day’s Work has been embraced by the fashion industry, as it was written in loving memory of her father Steven Florio, who was CEO and President of Conde Nast for many years.  All in a Day’s Work follows Sophie as she travels in a magical elevator and explores the various floors of a publishing house, meeting a fabulous cast of characters along the way – Katharine Hepburn, Anna Wintour, Diane von Furstenberg and Isaac Mizrahi, to name a few.  But at the end of the day, Sophie realizes that adventures just are not as much fun without those you love, your family.

Kelly's second title in her exciting self-published series, The Super Adventures of Sophie and the City: Grand Central Escapades, debuted this past November exclusively at Barneys.  The second book is then slated to rollout to major retailers internationally in 2013. The Super Adventures of Sophie and the City: Grand Central Escapades follows Sophie as she takes a magical train from Grand Central station back to the 1920’s with her new friend Henry.  She explores the glitz and glamour of the Jazz Age where she meets Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald at the Cotton Club, befriends Marguerite Lanvin, and inspires a then starving artist Christian Dior to create his now famous tagline “J’Adore Dior!”  The adventure culminates at Ellis Island where Sophie recognizes her great grandmother by seeing the family cameo pinned to her blouse.  Focusing on history, architecture, design and most of all family values, Grand Central Escapades will entertain children and adults for hours with its gorgeous illustrations and romantic vision of old New York.
