Megève, France

“I created this scene while staying in Megève during a blizzard. I didn’t have any scissors to create the cutouts, so the edges of the card are torn. I darted out to the balcony of my chalet to space the cutouts upright in the snow, but it was so cold I had to rush back inside to warm up.”

New York

“I loved the idea of making a witty cutout miniaturizing the enormous Statue of Liberty and reinterpreting her raised arm as hailing a taxi. I spent time dodging—ironically—taxis on a street corner to get this shot.”

Miami

“I visited Miami during Art Basel and was influenced by a lot of the kitsch art I saw, resulting in the slightly pop feel of this. I wanted to create an ode to the cotton candy surface feel of Miami.”

Milan

“I took this outside the iconic Prada store in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. There were so many tourists wandering around that I had to be quick to get a shot without any other people in it.”

Seoul

“There were so many savvy and cool people in the Garosu-gil area. I wanted to create a representation of their slick, nonchalant street-swagger attitude.”

Paris

“Le Castiglione restaurant on Rue Saint Honoré is one of my favorite lunch spots in Paris, I love to pitch out on the terrace and watch the passers-by.”

Naples

“I made this cutout as soon as I arrived in my room in Naples. I was so struck by the incredible view of Mount Vesuvius in the hazy evening summer light, I wanted to capture the atmosphere with a piece of artwork.”

New York

“I love Keith Haring’s work and wanted to create an ode to him, knowing he had created a lot of art in the subway. I left this cutout of him in the subway at 14th Street to continue its own life. That evening I could see the cutout still there, perched by a pillar on the platform.”
