Viraj Patil is an accomplished engineering leader with over three decades of experience in facilities management, building automation, and sustainable operations. As Director of Engineering at Rosewood Abu Dhabi since 2012, Viraj has been a key figure in shaping the hotel’s engineering strategy from its pre-opening phase through to its establishment as a flagship luxury property in the UAE capital.
Viraj has been instrumental in the planning, execution, and continuous enhancement of the hotel’s infrastructure. He led the full-scale implementation of the asset maintenance programme and spearheaded critical upgrades, including the development of Dai Pai Dong and the Manor Club Lounge. His leadership has ensured operational excellence across 189 hotel rooms and 131 serviced apartments, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and efficiency.
Under his guidance, Rosewood Abu Dhabi earned the prestigious Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) certification, recognizing the hotel’s commitment to sustainable management, community impact, cultural heritage, and environmental responsibility. He also played a key role in establishing the Verdes Committee, which champions green initiatives and led the hotel to achieve LEED certification, as well as the "Best Sustainability Impact Award" in 2024.
Beyond day-to-day operations, Viraj plays a vital role in long-term strategic planning, budget forecasting, and post-construction refinements. His ability to manage complex technical systems while fostering innovation has positioned Rosewood Abu Dhabi as a regional leader in responsible engineering.
With an MBA in Finance and specialised training in Physical Asset Management from the University of Toronto, Viraj brings a rare blend of technical acumen and financial insight to his role. Passionate about mentorship, innovation, and sustainable growth, he continues to drive impactful change within Rosewood Abu Dhabi’s engineering landscape and the broader hospitality industry.
