BIG FISH IN A BIG POND
The excitement of Bisbee’s annual Black & Blue Marlin Tournament always spills over into the streets of Cabo San Lucas. Known as the Black & Blue, the five-day fishing competition draws thousands to the marina to watch man vs. fish. Gigantic fish are weighed, prizes won and subsequent celebrations involving just about everyone, center around Puerto Paraíso Entertainment Plaza.
FIESTA FOR FOODIES
Small fiestas take place at Plaza Teniente José Antonio Mijares, the main square in San José del Cabo throughout the year. But even if there’s no fiesta there is always plenty going on and it is an atmospheric place to visit at sunset when locals gather to enjoy food from stalls and food trucks. One of the biggest fiestas is the Festival of San José, the patron saint of San José del Cabo which runs for two weeks every March.
ONE NIGHT IN CABO
Cabo San Lucas is Mexico’s destination for nightlife. The energetic city is teeming with restaurants, cafés on the sand, curio shops, boutiques and Cabo’s famous nightlife with dancing and music into the wee hours at numerous clubs and bars.
MISSION SAN JOSÉ DEL CABO
Founded in 1730, Mission San José del Cabo was the southernmost Jesuit mission on the Baja California peninsula. The church is located on the Plaza Mijares amid charming streets lined with boutiques and stores.
ART WALK IN SAN JOSÉ DEL CABO
November through June, art galleries stay open late (until 9 p.m.) every Thursday in San José del Cabo’s historic art district, where many traditional adobe houses have been converted into galleries and studios. Select galleries serve food and drinks and visitors have the opportunity to meet resident artists, gallery owners and fellow art lovers.
