Rosewood London Executive Chef Amandine Chaignot has created a new all-day à la carte lounge menu for the hotel’s Mirror Room, offering a sophisticated take on comfort food favourites, seasonal salads and signature patisserie.
Guests can start the day with a quick or leisurely breakfast, choosing from three different set options: the full English, the healthy, and the continental, all including juices and hot drinks. À la carte is also served, offering lighter dishes such as acai bowls, Bircher muesli and granola. Savoury options such as a toasted bagel with salmon and cream cheese and a variety of egg dishes including baked eggs with truffle oil. For those with a sweeter tooth, banana pancakes with salted caramel sauce, waffles or French toast are also available, alongside a selection of viennoiserie and baked items with Abernethy butter and preserves.
From 11.00am, the menu will transform to offer all-day dining, through to 10.00pm, offering lunch, dinner or simply a hot drink and patisserie at any time of day. The intimate room is perfect for relaxed lunches and cosy suppers, with low lighting and candlelit tables as the evening draws in.
The menu begins with a selection of sharing plates, from Ibérico ham and pan con tomate, to a bowl of deliciously warm gougères stuffed with Comté mousseline, served on a fragrant bed of fresh herbs. A half or dozen Jersey oysters and Daurenki Petrossian caviar provide lighter seafood choices. Main courses are divided into mains, salads and sandwiches, the former including smoked duck tagliatelle with wild mushroom, parsley and garlic, pan-seared Cornish cod with baby vegetables, coriander, ginger and lemongrass alongside Hereford fillet steak frites. Seasonal salads comprise burratina with fresh figs and fennel shavings, quinoa and mackerel salad with roasted pear, mint, fennel and courgette, and a classic caesar salad with grilled chicken, king prawn or Cornish lobster as optional additions. Sandwiches feature an indulgent truffle burger with an Ayrshire beef patty, fresh truffle shavings, pancetta, Comté cheese, caramelised onions, white truffle jam and served with black truffle fries. Others include a smoked salmon tartine, Cornish lobster roll with chervil mayonnaise, avocado and green apple and a classic club sandwich.
Finally, desserts include a seasonal fruit salad, ice creams and sorbets or a popular British cheese plate but the star of the sweet section is undoubtedly the patisserie, created by head pastry chef Mark Perkins. From a zesty lemon sablé meringue and raspberry pistachio tart, to a vanilla choux filled with ice cream and doused in a hot Valrhona chocolate sauce, guests can choose to complete their meal with six different patisserie options.
To drink, guests can opt from a selection of signature Champagne cocktails, a wide range of Champagnes by the glass, served from the Champagne trolley, alongside red, white and rosé wines, also by the glass. A large selection of loose-leaf teas, coffees and soft drinks complete the beverage options.
Given its jewel box-like interior, the stunning setting of Mirror Room is the perfect location for afternoon tea. Inspired by London’s vibrant and energetic art scene, the tea is inspired by some of the world’s most renowned and exciting artists. A selection of finger sandwiches begins the experience, followed by fruit and plain scones with Cornish clotted cream and preserves, culminating in a selection of patisserie in bright and vivid colours. These include a layered coconut sponge with raspberry, coconut mousse, decorated with raspberry chocolate, inspired by Mark Rothko to a chocolate cube filled with vanilla cream choux, salted caramel and chocolate cremeux, using inspiration from Banksy’s famous Girl with a Balloon image. Guests can choose to accompany the tea with a vast selection of loose-leaf teas, hot drinks or a glass of R de Ruinart Champagne.
Amandine Chaignot has worked with Alain Ducasse and Jean-François Piège in the kitchens of some of the greatest restaurants, and with some of the most highly regarded chefs in Paris; Eric Frechon, Yannick Alleno and Philippe Mille, and second to Christopher Hache at Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel.
The exquisitely designed and intimate Mirror Room, in the heart of Rosewood London, is a jewel box of a dining room. Floor-to-ceiling decorative mirrors, low lighting and lounge style seating all set the scene for a relaxed and social dining experience.
