PRESS RELEASES
March 27, 2019
From 27th March, Rosewood London is re-imagining its acclaimed Art Afternoon Tea for the minds and tastes of children. Launching alongside Mark Perkins’ new Van Gogh Art Afternoon Tea, the new Mirror Room offering will bring together the worlds of art and food in perfect formation once more, presented in a way to inspire and entertain little ones.
By embracing his inner child, Perkins has developed a playful and imaginative approach to the artistic afternoon tea offering for which he is now well known. Adding theatre and an interactive element to the grown-up tradition, a silver tray of painter’s tools will arrive at the table, equipping Mirror Room’s tiny artists with a painter’s palette and paint tubes filled with jam and lemon meringue. Two freshly baked scones will be served with clotted cream, along with palette knives for spreading the sweet toppings.
The drinks offering has also been carefully considered, and children will be served a fruit smoothie presented in classic Mason jars. Emblematic of how painters traditionally use jars to mix colours, the straws served in the drink will be transformed to look like paintbrushes. Smoothie will be complemented by one full sized classic pastry, and one full sized art afternoon tea pastry, taken from the Van Gogh Art Afternoon Tea – which accompanying adults will enjoy.
Mark Perkins says:
“As a father myself, I revelled in the challenge of creating an afternoon tea that captures the imaginations and tastes of children. It was a really fun task to incorporate my love for art as well as pastry, and I am excited to see how adults and children alike experience our new offering alongside each other.”
The children’s afternoon tea will be accompanied by a selection of classic finger sandwiches, filled with ingredients pleasing to junior palates: cheese and ham; chicken; and egg, or Nutella and jam for even younger guests. To keep children entertained all afternoon long, an outlined drawing of Van Gogh perfect for colouring in will be provided for each child who receives the Children’s Art Afternoon Tea.
