Rosewood London toasts the summer with its first sparkling wine terrace
April 11, 2019
This May, Rosewood London will reveal the Nyetimber Secret Garden - an elegant and immersive summer terrace created in partnership with the pioneering English sparkling wine producer. Nyetimber was the first producer to exclusively grow the three celebrated grapes varieties - Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay - and is regarded as one of England's finest sparkling wines.
From 31st May to 29th September, Rosewood London will bring the charming surroundings of the famous Nyetimber estate and the heart of the English countryside to central London. Tucked away in the hotel’s historic Edwardian courtyard, floral archways will adorn the pathways to the secret garden, and guests will be invited to enter the experience via a wrought iron gate. Inside, the terrace will be transformed into a verdant haven adorned with colourful wisteria, luscious green plants and delicate lighting - the perfect setting for a refreshing summer beverage.
Thoughtful details alluding to the Nyetimber estate - such as vintage garden tools and plant pots - will be placed throughout the garden, immersing guests in a true British outdoor atmosphere. The space will also boast hidden tables throughout, decorated with foliage and flowers providing guests an even more special experience.
Guests will have the opportunity to experience Nyetimber’s prestige range of English sparkling wines both by the glass and by the bottle. The pours on offer will include a varied selection of white and rosé sparkling wine including Nyetimber Classic Cuvée, Nyetimber Rosé and Nyetimber ‘Demi-Sec’. A selection of other wines, cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.
Holborn Dining Room’s Executive Head Chef Calum Franklin has created a special menu of dishes that are perfectly paired with a refreshing glass of Nyetimber. Breakfast will be served on the terrace for the first time, and those looking for a morning pick-me-up will have the chance to enjoy a choice of suitably luxurious breakfast dishes including eggs royale; smoked salmon with capers, lemon and crème fraiche; smashed avocado on toasted muffin; or waffles, strawberries, blueberries and mascarpone, all served with Blanc de Blanc sparkling wines.
Evening visitors can expect both sweet and savoury treats from Holborn Dining Room, including:
Each dish will be listed with a suggested Nyetimber pairing.
Upon ordering a glass or a bottle of Nyetimber, guests will also have the chance to enter into a monthly competition to win prizes including: a one night stay in an Executive Room at Rosewood London plus drinks in the Nyetimber Secret Garden; Nyetimber afternoon tea for two people; and a visit to the Nyetimber Estate for four people with a tour, tasting and lunch.
The Nyetimber estate counts three major milestones in its history. Its earliest beginnings saw it named in the Domesday Book in 1086 almost 1000 years ago, when the peaceful valley of Nitimbreha made its first appearance in recorded history. Then there was the planting of the first vines, almost exactly 900 years later in 1988, when the holy trinity of sparkling wine grapes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier found a new home in the lee of the South Downs.
Over the past 30 years, Nyetimber wines have achieved global acclaim, winning international awards and blind tasting competitions, as well as being recognised by some of the world’s most celebrated wine experts.
The Nyetimber Secret Garden at Rosewood London is open from 31st May - 29th September, from 10am to 11pm daily. The breakfast menu will run between 10am -11.15am (10-11.45am on weekends), and The Nyetimber Terrace menu will be available from 12pm till close (12.30pm till close on weekends).
