RESTAURANTS

Cioppino's

This stellar Yaletown outpost is a favourite of culinary experts, visiting celebrities, and just plain lovers of Italian food. The open kitchen and dining area make the room feel spacious yet intimate, the wine list is long and carefully put together, and the service is excellent. But it is Chef-owner Pino Posteraro's inventive use of local ingredients to explore and extend his culinary heritage that makes this one of the finest rooms in town.

Cardero's

Set directly on the pier of Coal Harbour, a previous mining port, Cardero's elevates the nautical theme with breathtaking views of the waterfront and a robust seafood menu. With selections from fish tacos and spaghetti bolognese to ahi tuna and succulent steaks, Cardero's is a great locale for family dinners whether on the patio watching floatplanes or indoors in the vaulted ceiling dining room.

Gyoza Bar

As can be deduced by its name, this restored pine beetle wood room dishes out made on the spot crispy dumplings and a wonderfully rich bowl of ramen in a healthier stock than the traditional fatty broth. The prawn gyoza is a wonderful diversion from the usual pork variety and the attentive service adds to the experience of refined Japanese street food. Open for lunch and dinner daily. For dessert, visit the delicious Cartems donuterie next door.

BARS

Pierre’s Champagne Bar

Nestled at the back of Yaletown’s new restaurant, West Oak, Pierre’s Champagne Lounge exudes plenty of old-world charm, with a range of custom touches, including a velvet-swathed ceiling and faux-Victorian wallpaper. The drinks list, meanwhile, is a breath of fresh air, ranging from Asian-inspired cocktails to an extensive champagne list. Smooth DJ sounds complete the upscale lounge experience.
