A RE-LANDSCAPED GARDEN, DE TUIN BY PIET OULDOLF
Designed by Piet Oudolf, the hotel’s garden, De Tuin, offers a contemplative space rooted in native flora and natural artistry. Seamlessly merging nature with the vibrancy of urban Amsterdam, this living canvas holds deep personal significance for Oudolf, embodying his philosophy of embracing the present moment. Throughout the hotel, over 1,000 works of art—from Dutch masters to contemporary talents—spark discovery and conversation, positioning Rosewood Amsterdam as a living gallery. A transformative space that redefines the concept of gardens, De Tuin invites visitors to experience nature as a dynamic art form. Here, aesthetics and sustainability come together, offering encounters with elements of the natural world that might be found nowhere else. Each season within this sanctuary unfolds as a source of inspiration, offering moments to reconnect with both nature and oneself. Positioned in the north-south, the plant selection of De Tuin was thoughtfully considered, as well as the limited soil depth and water drainage. Such considerations have resulted in a unique composition of various hues of green and purple, making up of a diverse mix of shade-dwellers, perennials, and multi-stemmed trees, of which the Japanese maple tree is the focal point. At Rosewood Amsterdam Oudolf’s seasoned design will provide guests a living canvas that flows through the seasons.
