Rosewood Hotels & Resorts® announces plans for its fourth property in Europe with Rosewood Edinburgh. The planned hotel would be housed in the former Royal High School - a historic, landmark building on Calton Hill in the center of Edinburgh.
The former Royal High School was designed by architect Thomas Hamilton and completed in 1829. The neoclassical building is widely considered to be one of the best examples of Greek revival architecture. Award-winning Scottish architect, Gareth Hoskins, has created his vision to restore this listed building which has lain vacant for nearly 50 years. The hotel will offer spacious accommodations and grand public spaces with panoramic views over the Scottish capital.
Plans for Rosewood Edinburgh include 147 guestrooms and suites, with many enjoying panoramic views across the city of Edinburgh. Amenities will include three restaurants and bars, a Sense® spa, state-of-the-art fitness center and indoor swimming pool. In addition, event spaces and meeting rooms will include a 3,200-square-foot ballroom.
