Released 1 February 2018

Edible Santa Fe today announced the results of its annual Local Hero Awards, which recognize local individuals and organizations for their work to create healthy, sustainable food systems in New Mexico. This year, the Anasazi Restaurant’s Executive Chef Edgar Beas won Best Chef in Santa Fe for his efforts to support the local economy and food system through his close partnerships with the area’s farmers and food purveyors.

“We are delighted that Chef Edgar was named one of Edible Santa Fe’s Local Heroes for 2018,”

Gabor L

Vida, managing director of Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi. “Since Chef Edgar arrived, he’s found inspiration in the region’s produce and culinary history, and he has supported countless food

growers in and around Santa Fe. We are always proud of his work in the community and are overjoyed that this esteemed publication has recognized him as the best chef in Santa Fe.”

Chef Edgar joined the Anasazi Restaurant, Bar and Lounge in 2015 and has created a food philosophy rooted in the native culture and traditions in Santa Fe. The restaurant’s menus fuse old world techniques with modern, innovative recipes and artful plating, and they are consistently changing and adapting to reflect the freshest, most seasonal ingredients found in and around Santa Fe.

In fall 2017, readers of Edible Santa Fe nominated and voted for their favorite restaurants, chefs, food artisans, food growers and advocates in 23 different categories. The winners of each category will be celebrated at a special awards ceremony on March 4, and they will also be spotlighted in issues of Edible Santa Fe throughout 2018.
