Rosewood Bangkok invites guests to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival in June 2024 with a unique selection of “Ba Jang” rice dumplings, also known as “Zongzi,” available for pre-order from 1 to 30 June 2024.

Available for the first time at Nan Bei, these glutinous rice dumplings, steamed in banana leaves, perfectly blend tradition with Executive Chinese Chef Matthew Geng’s personal history and memories of making dumplings with his grandmother.

The dumplings are offered in distinct flavors including Candied Chinese Red Dates and Chinese Mushroom & Abalone — two varieties inspired by cherished recipes from Chef Matthew’s grandmother. A third filling, Chinese Pork Sausage, offers a taste of nostalgia and celebrates Rosewood’s ‘A Sense of Place’ philosophy.

Steeped in over 2,000 years of history, the Dragon Boat Festival is traditionally observed to commemorate the patriotic poet Qu Yuan. The holiday is marked by dragon boat races and the eating of rice dumplings, symbolizing community unity and the abundant blessings of life.

Nan Bei rice dumplings are priced at THB 980 net per box of six pieces (two pieces per flavor: - Candied Chinese Red Dates, Chinese Mushroom and Abalone, Chinese Pork Sausage). They are available for purchase at Nan Bei or via the Rosewood Bangkok’s e-shop with 48 hours advance ordering.
