Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco announces reopening on March 31, 2022

Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco - the 5,000-acre country estate located in Val d’Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site - is pleased to announce the resort’s seasonal reopening on 31 March 2022. After the success of last year’s winter season extension, the resort will remain open until 7 January 2023, allowing travellers to discover Tuscany in its quieter ‘secret season’, through autumn, winter and into the New Year.

Sweet 19

The resort unveiled 19 new suites in August 2021, now offering a total of 42 suites and 11 villas. With this increase in accommodation, the property has become a favourite resort for destination weddings, special celebrations, and high-end incentives, while still staying true to its core leisure business as a destination for couples, families and friends on their Tuscan journey. The new complex where the additional 19 suites opened last year is part of the Borgo, which boasts an infinity pool with views over Montalcino and a newly unveiled pool bar.

For culture vultures

Il Palio di Siena, the world's greatest horse race, is returning to Siena on July 2 and August 16 following a two-year pause. An unforgettable spectacle seen only by a lucky few, spectators can expect to witness traditional medieval costumes, fierce rivalries, and stampeding hooves. For cinema lovers

With its rolling green hills, medieval villages perched on hilltops, and stunning landscape - Val d’Orcia is the location of choice for many film directors. On the newly launched Val d’Orcia Movie Tour, Rosewood guests will discover famous movie locations with an expert guide in and around local towns including Montalcino, Pienza, and San Quirico d’Orcia.

For foodies and wine enthusiasts

With the Fly Brunello experience, wine aficionados can take their passion to the skies. Flying by helicopter and enjoying a bird's-eye view of the picturesque villages of Montalcino, Pienza and Montepulciano, this extraordinary experience includes the private visit of two Brunello wineries as well as a gourmet lunch at the Michelin-starred restaurant Il Silene.

New for 2022 is also a tour of Siena’s weekly food market inside the imposing Medici family renaissance fortress, along with a Florence Street & Food Photography Experience tour that will take visitors around Florence’s most iconic hotspots whilst showing them where to eat the best Florentine street food like a local.

Tuscany lovers can travel in the slow lane and turn back time on a guided hike along the Via Francigena - a centuries-old road that would take pilgrims from Canterbury to Rome in medieval times. Those who prefer two-wheel adventures can opt for bike riding excursions around the spectacular Crete Senesi, or opt to cycle the legendary L’Eroica bike racetrack, the renowned vintage cycling event originally from the Tuscan village of Gaiole in Chianti. Old souls can hit the road and experience the Eroica itinerary on bicycles built before 1987, to rediscover the beauty of fatigue and the thrill of conquest. Exhilarating guided bike tours are also available with modern road and mountain bikes.

For fashion designers at heart

Tuscany has been the land of leathercraft and shoemaking for centuries. Guests are invited to unleash their inner designer and learn how to make their own sandals during a three-hour workshop. Led by a second-generation shoe artisan, guests will be initiated to the noble art of shoemaking and will be able to create a pair of bespoke sandals, made to measure for their feet.

This season, The Spa at Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco is introducing the following brands to its collection: EviDenS de Beauté, a skin beauty-enhancing cosmetics brand; and Lajatica, a 100% made in Tuscany eno-cosmetics line revolving around pomace - an anti-aging, antioxidant, zero-mile ingredient – produced in vineyards. The new brands will be introduced alongside Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella rituals. New treatments focused on the natural bounty of Tuscany’s own produce include Divine Wine, a stress-reducing red grape seed body ritual finished off with a glass of Castiglion del Bosco Brunello di Montalcino wine; or OliLife, a lifting facial treatment where extra virgin olive oil, in its many forms, takes centre stage.
