Rosewood Vienna Appoints Roland Hamberger As New Managing Director

Rosewood Vienna is pleased to announce the appointment of Roland Hamberger as the new Managing Director of the ultra-luxury hotel located in the heart of Austria's capital. Rosewood Vienna opened in August 2022, making it the fifth European property in the Rosewood Hotels & Resorts® portfolio and the brand’s first in the German-speaking market. Under Roland’s leadership, the property aims to immerse guests in Austrian culture by providing exceptional experiences, services, and amenities, while simultaneously reinforcing Rosewood Vienna’s signature sense of place.

In his new role as Managing Director of Rosewood Vienna, Roland will have the comprehensive responsibility of overseeing all aspects of the hotel. His remit extends from the hotel's vibrant Neue Hoheit Brasserie and Bar, and the elegant Salon Aurelie, to the extensive programming and a variety of luxurious accommodations that capture the heart of every visitor.

Roland will also oversee the Asaya Spa at Rosewood Vienna, a significant addition to the Rosewood portfolio being the first Asaya outside of Asia and first stand-alone Augustinus Bader Spa. Visitors to Vienna now can immerse in distinct therapies and rituals that are true representatives of Asaya's approach to wellness, centered around the holistic idea of 'The Method Augustinus Bader' to stimulate the tissue to encourage repair and healing of the body.

Having spent over a decade as the General Manager at Palais Coburg Hotel Residence Vienna, part of The Leading Hotels of the World, Roland brings extensive experience and a robust understanding of the ultra-high-end hospitality sector. During his tenure, Roland was responsible for spearheading a comprehensive operational and financial turnaround, which included an impressive increase in gross operating profit and a substantial boost in average daily rates.

Roland has also held significant roles in other prestigious properties such as The Ritz-Carlton, Vienna, and the Grand Hotel Wien, both recognized as 5-star hotels. He has successfully led pre-opening teams, developed robust sales strategies, and managed key stakeholder relationships across multiple properties. Roland’s tenure as Managing Director of Rosewood Vienna begins in August 2023.
