Rosewood Mayakoba Celebrates Día de Muertos with a Luminous Weekend of Vibrant and Heartfelt Festivities

Riviera Maya, Mexico (October TK, 2025) - This November, Rosewood Mayakoba, the ultra-luxury resort surrounded by emerald jungle and pristine white-sand beachfront, invites guests to celebrate Día de Muertos through a weekend of immersive experiences in cuisine, music, artistry and time-honored customs.

The festivities kick off on Halloween on Friday, October 31, with programming for all ages. Families can enjoy the Path of Skulls: Trick-or-Treat Adventure, following fabric skulls along the resort’s winding paths to participating suites where children collect sweets and surprises. Afterwards, the Haunted House & Management Cocktail Hour brings families together at a hidden Haunted House, where kids can explore while adults enjoy spirited cocktails hosted by the leadership team. The evening culminates in an Adults-Only Halloween Party sponsored by Pernod Ricard, featuring bold cocktails, music, costumes, and a lively night for the occasion.

The Día de Muertos celebration begins on Saturday, November 1 with Ceiba Negra, an elegant evening of cocktails and dinner beneath the sacred Ceiba tree. Guests, dressed in all black, will enjoy a one-of-a-kind culinary journey highlighting traditional techniques and ingredients, accompanied by music and cultural elements that honor the spirit of the holiday.

Festivities continue on Sunday, November 2 with a full day of interactive experiences. Guests can participate in a Banana Leaf Vessel Workshop to craft traditional boats for the evening ceremony and join a Makeup and Characterization Workshop to create classic Catrina looks, exploring the symbolism and cultural significance behind this cherished Día de Muertos tradition. As twilight falls, the Lights of the Ancestors Ceremony invites guests to release their handcrafted banana leaf boats - each carrying marigold petals, a candle, and a personal intention - across the lagoon as a luminous tribute to loved ones.

The celebration culminates in the Day of the Dead Parade, a vibrant procession featuring giant neon alebrijes and live music that travels from La Ceiba, through the jungle path and across the decorated Aquí Me Quedo bridge, honoring the journey of ancestors. The evening concludes with a seaside Mexican Grill, featuring live mariachi music, allowing guests to share in the culinary and musical customs that complement the day’s commemorations.

A community ofrenda, a decorated altar adorned with marigolds and candles, welcomes the spirits of deceased loved ones and offers moments of reflection, while workshops, parades, and dining immerse guests in the rich traditions of Día de Muertos.
