Rosewood Mayakoba Launches Private Island Lounge, La Isla Secreta

Exclusive New Guest Experience at Award-Winning Mexican Resort Only Available by Boat

Released 5 January 2023

Riviera Maya, Mexico (January 5, 2023) – The team at Rosewood Mayakoba, the luxury beachfront resort in Riviera Maya nestled between emerald jungle and turquoise Caribbean ocean, is pleased to present a secluded new venue, La Isla Secreta. Aptly named for its mystical ambiance and undisclosed location, La Isla Secreta is a private, adults-only speakeasy located on a private island within the resort and accessible only by boat. The distinctive new adventure offers guests a tucked away refuge within Mayakoba’s lush mangroves to relax and enjoy a curated menu of craft cocktails and rare Mexican spirits. La Isla Secreta is slated to open Thursday, January 5, 2023.

A retreat within a retreat, the exclusive reservation-only experience whisks guests from their suite-side private docks to the warm copal-scented La Isla Secreta. Upon arrival, guests are greeted with a bohemian yet elegant lounge, complete with conversational seating and rich organic textures including plush woven rugs and artisanal Yucatán textiles. Surrounded by dense greenery and hanging plants, flickering lanterns, and serene winding lagoons, the jungle lounge’s soft music complements the scene with slow rhythms designed to embrace the laid-back luxury of the space.

La Isla Secreta’s apothecary-inspired bar offers a craft cocktail list created by Director of Mixology Joshua Monaghan. The menu features prohibition-style cocktails – a nod to the secrecy of the space – elevated with small-batch agave spirits, local gin and whiskey, and sugar cane distillates like rum and charanda – shining light on the breadth of heritage Mexican spirits and cocktail culture. The list is completed with custom teas and infusions, prestige Mexican wines, and artisanal beers.

“La Isla Secreta embraces Rosewood Mayakoba’s sense of escape and discovery. It’s a romantic enclave for our guests, and a spot that feels remote but also right at home,”

Daniel H

Scott, Regional Vice President and Managing Director at Rosewood Mayakoba. “We’re thrilled to offer guests this exclusive new experience – a speakeasy set within the mangroves – that also encapsulates the spirit and culture of the Yucatán.”

La Isla Secreta is open Thursday to Saturday from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., with limited seating and for reservations only. Guests can book directly with their butlers at Rosewood Mayakoba, who confirm tables and transportation to the undisclosed location.
