Rosewood Miramar Beach Welcomes Rob Smits as Director of Wine
Rosewood Miramar Beach is pleased to announce the appointment of Rob Smits as the new Director of Wine.
Montecito, California – July 29, 2024 – Rosewood Miramar Beach is pleased to announce the appointment of Rob Smits as the new Director of Wine. In his new role, he will oversee the wine program for the property, including the esteemed Michelin Star/Michelin Green Star awarded Caruso's.
Smits brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Rosewood Miramar Beach, having previously developed the wine program for the property's sister establishment in Hawai’i, Kona Village a Rosewood Resort. During his tenure at Kona Village, Smits skillfully curated an exRansive wine list earning an esteemed Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in its first year of operation. Always keen to a challenge, Smits set a goal to develop Hawaii’s best White Burgundy program at Kona Village, and oversaw the design and construction of the property's wine cellar.

Prior to his time at Kona Village, Smits served as the Wine Director at the Forbes Five-Star rated Brush Creek Ranch Luxury Collection in Saratoga, Wyoming. His illustrious career also includes notable positions such as managing all beverage operations for the San Francisco 49ers partnership with Chef Michael Mina, overseeing both Bourbon Steak & Bourbon Pub restaurants, as well as VIP/private events. Additionally, he served as the Wine Director at Mason Pacific in San Francisco, renowned for its focus on vintage French wines.
Smits’ extensive experience and proven track record in wine management make him an invaluable addition to the Rosewood Miramar Beach team as they continue to uphold their reputation for excellence in hospitality and dining.
