Rosewood Phnom Penh Partners With Cambodia International Film Festival To Celebrate Local Cinema
For the second consecutive year, Rosewood Phnom Penh has partnered with the prestigious Cambodia International Film Festival (CIFF) which celebrates innovation and artistry in film with a focus on home-grown productions.
The CIFF program spans many aspects of Khmer cinema, including the multi-awarded Buoyancy and the archive-based Bangkosol: A Requiem for Cambodia presented by Cambodian Living Arts. The festival also introduces the local audience to some recent groundbreaking films including the disruptive Parasite and the latest Quentin Tarantino blockbuster Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.
Actress, filmmaker and humanitarian Angelina Jolie is president of the CIFF Honorary Committee. CIFF itself was founded by world-acclaimed filmmakers including the Cambodian, Oscar-nominated director and producer, Rithy Pan.
“In keeping with our ‘A Sense of Place’ guiding concept, we are honored to play an integral role in supporting the vibrant, burgeoning Cambodian art scene, especially on CIFF’s milestone 10th anniversary,” “The movie showings at Rosewood Phnom Penh will take place in our elegant Salons, to add to the special occasion atmosphere.”
Michael Parker, managing director of Rosewood Phnom Penh
“CIFF is very popular among the Cambodian youth, eager to learn about the world and proud to show how rich their culture is, and what they are able to do,” “In a world facing more and more inequalities, cinema connects people, and it is important for the unity of a society.”
Cedric Eloy, director of CIFF

As part of the Cambodia International Film Festival’s tribute to the late Royal Highness Princess Norodom Buppha Devi, Rosewood Phnom Penh’s Art Gallery presents “20 Eyes on the Royal Ballet 2020” through late June 2020. This multidisciplinary exhibition celebrates the ancient yet evolving Royal Ballet of Cambodia by bringing together 10 artists to share their personal interpretations of the ballet’s intrinsic beauty and grace.
