Rosewood Schloss Fuschl Unveils New Mozart-Themed Programming for the Festive Season

Rosewood Schloss Fuschl announces its 2025 festive season programming, honoring Salzburg’s musical heritage through a series of events inspired by Mozart. The lineup includes an Advent concert series curated by team members of the Mozarteum, a lakeside Christmas market, and cultural traditions such as torch-lit walks and Krampus parade. Seasonal dining highlights feature multi-course holiday menus, Mozart-themed afternoon teas, and hands-on family workshops, from gingerbread house decorating to festive baking inspired by Mozart’s The Magic Flute. The season concludes with a New Year’s Eve gala featuring a seven-course dinner, live entertainment, and fireworks over Lake Fuschl – available exclusively as part of the property’s holiday stay package.

As we look ahead to the 270th anniversary of Mozart’s birth in January 2026, this year’s festive season feels especially meaningful. Our Mozart-inspired programming pays tribute not only to his genius, but to the living cultural legacy that continues to define this region. From concerts curated with the Mozarteum to culinary and family experiences infused with his spirit, each moment invites guests to celebrate Salzburg’s heritage through the universal language of music.

Curated in collaboration with the Mozarteum, a non-profit organization whose primary focus has been the life and œuvre of Wolfgang Amadé Mozart, the organization offers concerts, maintains the Mozart museums, and supports academic research. These three core areas seek not only to preserve and foster tradition but to be open to changing perspectives and consider new approaches when encountering the works of Mozart. The property’s Advent concert series runs from November 30^th through December 21^st, taking place every Sunday from 4 to 5 p.m. in the hotel’s historic ballroom. The series opens on November 30^th with ARGE Konsonanz playing the flute and guitar, followed by Hana Kovalcikova and Birgitta playing the violin and accordion on December 7^th, the Corda Viva string quartet on December 14^th, and concludes with a stirring violin and harp performance by Constanze Germann-Bauer and Verena Maurers Zeiser on December 21^st.

In addition to the musical performances each Advent weekend, Rosewood Schloss Fuschl transforms its lakeside grounds into an intimate winter market open Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 7 p.m. The market captures the charm of a traditional Austrian Christmas fair, where the scent of mulled wine and traditional festive delights fills the crisp alpine air. Guests can browse handcrafted goods and seasonal treats from a curated selection of regional artisans, including Almsinn (natural cosmetics and incense), VKS Manufaktur (homemade delicacies), Elf & Elfchen (holiday decorations), Destillerie Hanusch (winter beverages), Nina Ziller (handmade gifts in plaster and wood), Der einfache Luxus (embroidered linen textiles), Di Vine (Italian wines & delicacies), Anna Lindner (artisan crafts from natural materials), and ALPAKAmiA Family & Tina (artisan crafts from natural materials).

Guests can also immerse themselves in the region’s rich folklore and centuries-old traditions through a collection of cultural experiences that capture the soul of Salzburg at Christmas time. One of the season’s most cherished offerings is the torch-lit walk at Hintersee, held on December 25^th and January 1^st. This guided walk follows the Joseph Mohr Memorial Trail, tracing the story of the local priest who wrote the lyrics to Silent Night. As guests make their way through snow-covered paths illuminated by flickering torches, our concierge recounts the origins of the world’s most beloved Christmas carol, first performed in nearby Oberndorf in 1818. The experience offers quiet reflection and a deep connection to the traditions that define Austria’s festive spirit.

On December 7^th at 5 p.m., the property brings Alpine folklore to life with its annual Krampus parade and St. Nicholas celebration. The event features costumed performers dressed as Krampus, the horned companion of St. Nicholas who, according to legend, punished misbehaving children during Advent. Drums, cowbells, and torchlight fill the night as the procession winds through the property, followed by a cheerful meet-and-greet with St. Nicholas himself. For a more relaxed experience, guests can ride across Lake Fuschl on a traditional Zille, a wooden boat, held every Sunday during Advent at 3 p.m.

Families are invited to join festive activities throughout the season. Children can enjoy gingerbread house decorating every Saturday during Advent from December 6^th to December 20^th, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Additionally, the “Sweet Magic Flute” cookie baking class—held at the property’s holiday bakery and inspired by Mozart’s beloved opera—will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on December 23^rd and December 26^th. Following a morning of festive fun, guests can unwind and indulge in a symphony of flavors with the Mozart Afternoon Tea, served daily from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Sisi Tea Salon, where delicate pastries like Mozart Tartelette, Punch Cube, and Pistachio Financier, and fine teas from Althaus harmonize like a classical masterpiece.

For those seeking a spirited experience, the cocktail class inspired by Mozart’s lively “Rondo alla Turca” blends rhythm and flavor as guests craft a signature drink that dances on the palate just as the music does in the air. The Schloss Restaurant and Seeterrasse continue the celebration with seasonal Austrian menus, including a five-course Christmas Eve dinner featuring Pink Roasted Fillet of Local Veal and a three-course Christmas Day menu highlighting Pink Roasted Breast of Challans Duck.

The season culminates in a New Year’s Eve Gala, part of an exclusive stay package from December 29^th to January 1^st.
