Rosewood Vienna’s vineyard experiences

Experience Austria's wine harvest season through a local lens

Released 7 August 2023

September marks the beginning of Austria’s wine harvest season, hailed as one of the most celebrated times of the year in which travelers and locals Viennese alike make their annual pilgrimages to the country’s bucolic vineyards for leisurely days that begin with traditional walking, imbibing, and partaking in a savory medley of meats, cheeses, and pickled vegetables. Offering their guests world-class experiences that venture beneath the surface of this dynamic destination, luxury hotel Rosewood Vienna offers distinct wine harvest experiences for their guests, allowing travelers to savor Vienna and its surrounding countryside through an authentic lens.

Oenophiles are invited to capture the magic of harvest season through Rosewood Vienna, which has perfected the art of uncovering the best of Vienna for its discerning guests. The hotel’s dedicated concierge can arrange experiences to Vienna’s own wineries to sip and savor the country’s most beloved vintages including Grüner Veltliner, a beloved white wine known for its medium body and high acidity. Unlike most iconic European cities, Vienna boasts 580 hectares of vineyards managed by 630 wineries tucked on the hillsides within city limits, where locals venture during what’s affectionately referred to as “walking season,” trekking up the hills before rewarding themselves with glasses of wine and regional fare at traditional H eurigen or wine taverns.

Further embracing the local wine culture, Rosewood Vienna has introduced its own signature “Rosenholz” vintage, a unique Veltliner, which translates to “Rosewood,” and is crafted specifically for the hotel through a distinct partnership with the acclaimed Strobl family vineyard, renowned for its modern architecture and interiors. The organic vineyard produces varieties rooted in the dense aeolian sediments that have accumulated via wind-blown silt over thousands of years, giving the wines distinct complexities sought by wine lovers worldwide. The vintage can be savored through the on-property dining concept, Neue Hoheit Brasserie and Bar.

The first luxury hotel to enter the Vienna market in 10 years, Rosewood Vienna assumes exceptional prominence in the magnificent Austrian capital of royal and imperial heritage. Set in the heart of Vienna’s historic First District, in a 19 th -century neoclassical bank headquarters, the hotel is steps from the celebrated Graben, Kohlmarkt, and Tuchlauben pedestrian streets, renowned for luxury shops and restaurants, and close to many of Vienna’s cultural and historical sites. The property is home to several distinct dining concepts as well as an Asaya Spa, the first at a Rosewood property outside of Asia and first stand-alone Augustinus Bader Spa, centered around the holistic idea of 'The Method Augustinus Bader' to stimulate the tissue to encourage repair and healing of the body.
