Lingnan House, Rosewood Guangzhou’s Chinese Restaurant, Earns One Michelin Star

Lingnan House at Rosewood Guangzhou has been named a One Michelin Star Restaurant by MICHELIN Guide Guangzhou 2020 while Chef de Cuisine Peter Situ has received the 2020 MICHELIN Guangzhou Young Chef Award.

Lingnan House, the hotel’s Chinese restaurant on the fifth floor features traditional authentic Cantonese cuisine created with locally sourced ingredients. Executive Sous Chef Bill Feng has built a robust and exclusive network of nearby farmers to supply ingredients produced by sustainable methods. As a result, the menu features such indigenous items as vegetables from Williams Farm in Huizhou as well as pork from Zhuhao Farm in Maoming within a unique menu of Canton regional classics and Shunde cuisine.

Born in Guangzhou, Chef Bill Feng developed a deep understanding of Cantonese cuisine – a base he builds upon on with creativity and intuition. “Innovation is about improving traditions, not changing them,” he says. 

Signature dishes such as Cantonese barbecue and dim sum, which are prepared in show kitchens, can be complemented with a selection of premium teas, Chinese-inspired cocktails, premium international and Chinese rice wines.

Designed by Tokyo-based Super Potato, the restaurant effectively transports guests into a handsome Chinese mansion ­– complete with lantern-inspired lighting fixtures, contemporary ceiling fans and dark wood-paneled walls. A series of distinct spaces traverses a glamorous main dining room, elevated bar seating, and nine private dining rooms – three of which are free-standing outdoor garden villas. When dining in these exclusive spaces, guests also enjoy butler service and unparalleled privacy for business meetings or special occasions.

 

MICHELIN Guide

MICHELIN Guides are a series of guide books published for hotel and restaurant reference for more than a century. As of now, the guide is published covering more than 20 countries in the world. In 2016, MICHELIN published its first Shanghai guide.

The MICHELIN Guide conveys its restaurant reviews through two to three-line short summaries and an extensive system of symbols, the most revered of which are its globally renowned stars. Restaurants may receive zero to three stars for the quality of their food based on five criteria:  quality of the ingredients used, mastery of flavor and cooking techniques, the personality of the chef in his cuisine, value for money and consistency between visits.
