August 16, 2018
Riviera Maya, Mexico – To celebrate Mexican Independence Day, Rosewood Mayakoba is inviting guests to enjoy an unparalleled three-day gastronomic getaway featuring feasts prepared by renowned guest chefs and a chance to sip and savor the world-renowned cocktails of Latin America’s Best Bar. Nestled in the lush enclave of the Rivera Maya, the award-winning Rosewood Mayakoba offers a weekend of pure epicurean bliss with highlights including:
Friday, September 14
Kick off the weekend with the first-ever Mole & Curry Festival, welcoming chefs Margarita Carrillo, Mexico’s celebrated cookbook author and television host, and esteemed Executive Chef Siddharth Krishna of Rosewood Baha Mar. Bringing together two of the most complex and tasty traditions of their respective cuisines – Mexican mole and Indian curry – the visiting chefs together with Rosewood Mayakoba’s own Chef Juan Pablo Loza have created a culinary journey featuring the robust flavors of these mother sauces. On this evening, guests can opt to dine at Casa del Lago to discover an array of Indian dishes and traditional curries or head to Punta Bonita for authentic mole and Mexican specialties.
Saturday, September 15
Ring in Mexican Independence Day with an evening on the sands and live music at Rosewood Mayakoba’s beachfront hot spot: Aquí Me Quedo. Together the chefs will prepare a spectacular small plates tour blending Mexican and Indian flavors and culminating with a festive fireworks finale.
Sunday, September 16
The flavor-filled finale to the weekend begins with an authentic Mexican breakfast made over an open flame by Chef Carrillo. That night, dine under the twinkling lights of the open-air La Ceiba Garden & Kitchen where Chef Krishna will utilize the surrounding home-grown, fresh ingredients to create a memorable meal inspired by his Indian roots.
Throughout the weekend, cocktail aficionados will delight in the creations at the pop-up of Licorería Limantour, one of the World’s 50 Best Bars and named Best Bar in Latin America. Helmed by its award-winning bartender Jose Luis Leon and special guest Antonio Naranjo of the acclaimed bar Dr. Stravinsky in Barcelona, the bar takeover at Casa del Lago and Aquí Me Quedo will feature Mexican liquors and spirits as well as the barmen’s own singular concoctions.
