Rosewood Munich unveils the Staircase Gallery, a new curated space dedicated to contemporary art, opening on 12 May 2026 at the architectural heart of the hotel – its central staircase. Launching the programme is ‘Woven Maps, Woven Lands’, an exhibition by ChileanGerman artist Constanza Camila Kramer Garfias, curated by Yara Sonseca Mas. The exhibition will be on display until 12 October 2026.

With the launch of the Staircase Gallery, Rosewood Munich introduces a new cultural destination within the hotel, further strengthening its commitment to contemporary creativity through an ongoing curated arts programme. Rather than functioning as a traditional white cube gallery, the space has been conceived as an immersive artistic encounter that welcomes guests from the moment they arrive.

Set across the hotel’s open staircase architecture, artworks unfold over multiple levels, revealing new perspectives as guests move through the space. The gallery will present a rotating programme of exhibitions every six months, showcasing both international and local artists.

Developed in collaboration with curators from the network of Various Others - Munich’s contemporary art platform connecting galleries, institutions, and independent project spaces internationally - the Staircase Gallery creates an ongoing dialogue between Munich’s local creative scene and wider global perspectives.

The inaugural exhibition, ‘Woven Maps, Woven Lands’, sees Munich-based Chilean-German artist Constanza Camila Kramer Garfias explore themes of colonial narratives, cartography, and historical systems of representation. At the centre of the exhibition are large-scale Jacquard woven works, suspended throughout the staircaseand experienced from shifting viewpoints across the space. These are complemented by embroidered textile works and reworked historical prints. Through the deliberate use of materials such as synthetic raffia and textile-based techniques, Kramer Garfias challenges traditional notions of authority and representation. The exhibition approaches history not as something fixed, but as something fluid, open to reinterpretation and retelling – reflecting the movement and openness of the Staircase Gallery itself.

With the Staircase Gallery, Rosewood Munich continues to position itself as more than a hotel, but as a cultural destination that brings together local creativity and international perspectives. Alongside the exhibition, the hotel will introduce a programme of artist talks, guided tours and curated guest experiences, deepening the dialogue between art and the public. 

The new gallery forms part of Rosewood Munich’s wider vision to seamlessly integrate art, design, and hospitality into the guest experience.
