Rosewood Sand Hill, the luxury Menlo Park hotel, is pleased to announce that its signature restaurant, Madera, has maintained a Michelin one-star designation – a distinguished honor for Executive Chef Reylon Agustin and the restaurant’s culinary team. With this one-star designation, Madera is placed amongst an exclusive and elite group of 90 restaurants in California lauded by The MICHELIN Guide, each branded with a mark of consistent excellence across all categories.
“We are delighted to see that Madera has maintained its one-star status in the 2019 MICHELIN Guide, one of the leading authorities in the industry,” said Philip Meyer, managing director of Rosewood Sand Hill. “Under the leadership of Executive Chef Reylon Agustin and the restaurant’s incredibly talented team, Madera has helped to affirm Rosewood Sand Hill’s status as a luxury culinary destination offering guests an unforgettable dining experience.”
The MICHELIN Guide is an international benchmark in gourmet dining that rates top restaurants using a rigorous selection process implemented across 23 countries. Inspectors dine at each venue anonymously to ensure objectivity before convening to discuss each restaurant’s qualifications. Upon completion of these deliberations, inspectors determine which restaurants should be retained in the coming year’s selection, and which are to be granted one, two or three stars. The 2019 MICHELIN Guide covers restaurants across the world and features an exclusive group of 90 restaurants in California.
“It is a sincere honor to be included in the 2019 MICHELIN Guide,” said Executive Chef Reylon Agustin, executive chef of Rosewood Sand Hill. “At Madera we attribute our continued success to the unparalleled dedication of our staff, our commitment to serving singular farm-to-table cuisine and the feedback we receive from our loyal guests on a day-to-day basis. It is humbling to receive this prestigious recognition and we would like to thank our patrons and team members for their continued support and encouragement.”
Madera offers a menu that champions the many culinary traditions of the Bay Area in a refined, yet approachable way. Their artfully crafted dishes honor the rural culture of the region, showcasing bold flavors created from sustainably harvested seafood and meats, and locally-sourced seasonal produce. To complement the restaurant’s culinary philosophy, Madera’s Wine Director, Paul Mekis has hand curated an impressive wine list that features a wide selection from the world’s top producers. Madera’s wine program recently received the prestigious Wine Spectator Grand Award, which recognizes outstanding leaders in the industry, further enhancing its reputation as a culinary destination.
