Join indigenous New Zealander and charismatic guide Michael Venner at Rosewood Kauri Cliffs to celebrate the Māori New Year, with pre-dawn stargazing and storytelling as the Pleiades star cluster rises in the southern sky.
Matariki is a day for everyone to enjoy - to take a moment simply to breath, to reflect and remember who we are, how we belong to each other, and where we are going individually and collectively. It’s a fitting reminder of how to live with gratitude for all that we have and all we share. We are from the heavens rising up from the earth.
Begin the day with pre-dawn stargazing (departing lodge at 7am), including a sunrise experience and captivating storytelling and discussions around the concepts and meanings of the star rising moment, as each star emerges from below the horizon.
Return to the lodge for a Matariki themed gourmet breakfast. A perfect way to celebrate this special time, and acknowledge the ancestral Te Ao Māori life principles, values and concepts.
