Ta Khai will host an exclusive 6 or 9-course, 8-hand dinner that bridges heritage and innovation. Curated by Rosewood Phuket PlaceMaker and designer Philip Huang, this one-night-only event celebrates the connection between food, culture, and storytelling.

A Collaboration of Visionary Talents

This extraordinary dinner features the combined culinary artistry of:

Antto Melasniemi:

A Finnish chef and artist who draws inspiration from both Nordic and Southeast Asian culinary traditions. Known for his innovative approach to food, Antto combines traditional techniques with contemporary interpretations, focusing on sustainability and locally sourced ingredients. His culinary creations are deeply connected to his commitment to preserving culinary heritage while reimagining it through modern methods.

Rirkrit Tiravanija:

A renowned artist who splits his time between Chiang Mai, New York, and Berlin. His groundbreaking work, rooted in relational aesthetics, uses food and shared experiences as a medium to foster dialogue and connections across cultures. Rirkrit is known for creating immersive art installations where food is the central element, inviting guests to partake in the creative process and engage with his art through taste and experience.

Auntie Yai and Uncle Nan:

The culinary custodians of Ta Khai, revered for their expertise in Southern Thai cuisine and traditional flavors.

Together, these four visionary talents will craft an 8-hand dinner inspired by the Finnish and Malaya archipelagos, enriched with elements from Northern and Southern Thailand. Highlights include:

  • Innovative creations by Antto Melasniemi, inspired by his ongoing work on the sequel to The Bastard Cookbook

Artisanal Indigo Dyeing Workshop

Join an engaging hands-on workshop led by renowned designer Philip Huang, where guests of all ages are invited to explore the 6,000-year-old craft of natural indigo dyeing. Participants will discover the transformative power of this ancient practice and its applications in modern design, creating their own personalized keepsake to take home.

Guests are welcome to bring a piece of their own cotton clothing to dye or purchase specially curated cotton items from the Philip Huang collection to enhance their experience.

This immersive experience is open to everyone, including outside guests, offering an opportunity to connect with the timeless art of indigo dyeing and its fusion of tradition and innovation.
