Rosewood Amsterdam celebrates Dutch excellence through its collaboration with Amsterdam-based jewellery designer Bibi van der Velden, appointed as the hotel’s House Jeweller. Her bespoke creations and curated touchpoints enrich the hotel’s Sense of Place®, connecting guests to the artistry and narrative of the city.

Central to the collaboration is Jewels on Wheels, a roaming jewellery installation that transforms fine jewellery into an immersive, story-led experience—blending craftsmanship, imagination, and contemporary Dutch design.

As House Jeweller, Bibi brings her sculptural approach to jewellery into the guest journey. Born in New York and raised in England and the Netherlands, she studied fine arts in Florence before refining her vision at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and the Royal Academy of Arts. In 2005, she launched her eponymous brand from her Amsterdam studio, where she continues to create imaginative, meaningful pieces that merge art, storytelling, and emotion.

Inspired by nature, the animal kingdom, and transformation, Bibi’s designs blur the line between fine jewellery and wearable sculpture. From sculptural earrings to animal forms carved in mammoth tusk and gold, each piece carries a sense of movement, playfulness, and wonder.

Jewels on Wheels presents a rotating selection of signature and one-of-a-kind pieces from Bibi’s most iconic collections, crafted in 18k recycled gold and set with extraordinary materials including mammoth tusk, malachite, ebony wood, baroque pearls, and semi-precious stones. Both the jewellery and the sculptural cart reflect Rosewood Amsterdam’s dedication to showcasing Dutch talent and embedding art into the guest experience.

Rosewood Amsterdam guests are invited to engage with the cart in an intimate and tactile way, trying on pieces, discovering hidden details, and gaining insight into the craftsmanship and symbolism behind each design—while enjoying a highly personalised point-of-purchase experience.
