In September, Kona Village welcomes acclaimed San Francisco chefs Thomas McNaughton and Ryan Pollnow of Flour + Water Hospitality Group for a culinary pop-up inspired by regional Italian cuisine and Hawai`i's agricultural bounty. Guests are invited to experience two events: a one-night-only dinner at Moana and a special Island Roots experience featuring house-made pasta, wood-fired pizza, and locally sourced ingredients.
Founded around a shared belief in community, craftsmanship, and genuine hospitality, Flour + Water Hospitality Group has become one of the Bay Area's most influential restaurant groups. Led by co-chefs Thomas McNaughton and Ryan Pollnow alongside their partners, the group is known for award-winning concepts including Flour + Water, Penny Roma, Flour + Water Pizzeria, and Flour + Water Pasta Shop. Since opening the original Flour + Water in 2009, the team has earned national recognition for its dedication to regional Italian cooking, sustainable sourcing, and memorable dining experiences centered around hand-crafted pasta, pizza, and the spirit of gathering around the table.

Join chefs Thomas McNaughton and Ryan Pollnow at Moana for a special evening showcasing signature dishes from Flour + Water, thoughtfully adapted for Kona Village with locally sourced Hawai`i ingredients. Exclusively for resort guests, chefs Thomas McNaughton and Ryan Pollnow join Kona Village's signature Island Roots dinner for a one-night culinary collaboration beneath the kiawe trees. Gather around the imu fire pit for an evening of live-fire Hawaiian cooking, featuring signature Flour + Water dishes with handcrafted pasta at the center, alongside Island Roots favorites, all served family-style at a communal table.
