History
Originally built as the private estate of a cotton magnate, Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek® has a heritage steeped in Dallas culture. The original owners, inspired by worldly travels, embarked on a tour of Europe with their architect, curating antique pieces, authentic fixtures and luxurious materials. In 1925, the opulent manor was complete, including a cantilevered staircase and the first private elevator in Dallas. The Mansion’s architecture is influenced by 16th century Renaissance Italy. Ornate interior décor was inspired by grand estates in Spain, Italy, England, France and elsewhere in Europe. For the next 50 years, the palatial estate hosted countless society parties as the center of the Dallas social scene. Famous guests at the mansion included President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Tennessee Williams.

In 1979, Rosewood Property Company purchased the property and transformed it into a world-class restaurant and hotel. The Mansion Restaurant opened to extraordinary national acclaim in 1980 and has remained a culinary legend ever since. Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek®, the luxury hotel, was added to complement the original residence, with 143 guest rooms and suites designed with an inviting residential ambiance. Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek® opened with a grand gala benefiting the local arts community, an early indication of the hotel’s strong commitment to philanthropic endeavors. While preserving historical details, modern design elements have been introduced throughout the years.  Meticulously restored interiors, hand-carved fireplaces, marble floors and stained-glass windows preserve the estate's original magnificence.

Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek® is a Mecca for the world’s most influential individuals. The hotel’s rich history includes royals, presidents and heads-of-state – President Gerald Ford, President Ronald Reagan, President Jimmy Carter, President George H. W. Bush, President George W. Bush, President Bill Clinton and Margaret Thatcher have all visited. Countless high-profile actors, artists and entertainers call the hotel their home away from home.
