Rosewood San Miguel De Allende Celebrates Day Of The Dead With A Journey Through Remembrance And The Joy Of Life

OCTOBER 27, 2025

October 27, 2025 – Nestled in the heart of a city recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Rosewood San Miguel de Allende invites guests and visitors to celebrate Day of the Dead with a series of experiences that honor life, memory, and the rich cultural heritage of Mexico. Through a variety of activities, art, music, and gastronomy come together to pay tribute to one of the country’s most cherished traditions.

Surrounded by history and art, the property transforms for the occasion into a space full of life and meaning. The scent of marigolds, flickering candles, and the vibrant atmosphere that fills every corner evoke the spirit of a celebration that bridges the ancient and the contemporary.

A Celebration That Honors Life

To kick off the festivities, on November 2, the hotel will host a special Day of the Dead brunch featuring a “pan de muerto” station with toppings, live music, and Mexican food stations. This experience offers a festive and welcoming atmosphere to begin the day with flavor and tradition.

The main event will take place that evening, November 2, at 8:00 p.m. in the Rosewood Garden, an open space overlooking the Parroquia of San Miguel de Allende. The garden will become a mystical setting inviting guests to remember those who are absent. With a live DJ, guests dressed as elegant catrines, traditional Mexican food stations, and an open bar, the celebration will offer a joyful and festive atmosphere. A catrina contest will also take place, recognizing the most creative participants with a special jury, highlighting the artistic spirit that defines this holiday.

For those seeking a more intimate experience, Pirules Garden Kitchen will offer a three-course dinner on November 2, starting at 7:00 p.m. Carefully designed by Chef Odín Rocha, the menu captures the flavors and aromas of the season, including a starter of tamal with hoja santa, beef cheek, and marigold pipián; a main course of lamb shank mixiote with tatemada sauce and handmade corn tortillas; and “pan de muerto” with cream foam, piloncillo, and orange blossom ice cream for dessert. This culinary experience, set against the natural backdrop of the garden, provides a harmonious and deeply symbolic way to honor memory through a connection with the land and flavors.

“Pan de muerto,” one of the most emblematic elements of Day of the Dead, will have a special place in the hotel’s culinary offerings. At Artesana Boutique, from October 15 to November 5, guests can take home three versions: classic sugar-topped, filled with chai cream, or strawberries with vanilla cream. At Restaurante 1826, from October 27 to November 1, diners can enjoy a special “pan de muerto” station, accompanied by a roaming cart offering a selection of toppings to personalize each creation, including whipped vanilla cream, chocolate, cajeta, Nutella, berries, condensed milk, and colored sprinkles.

In line with the city’s celebrations, Rosewood San Miguel de Allende, in collaboration with Rancho Los Labradores and local partners, will honor the absent on November 2 with its traditional Catrina Parade. This true Mexican festival brings together visitors and locals for a route full of music, giant puppets, colorful costumes, and a vibrant festive spirit. One of the hotel’s ballrooms will serve as the starting point, transformed into a makeup station where participants can dress as authentic catrinas before exploring the cobblestone streets of San Miguel de Allende.

Meanwhile, the hotel gallery presents an exhibition by American artist Jon Burkholz, available through November 18. His abstract works offer a contemporary perspective that resonates with the city’s artistic and cultural spirit. This initiative is part of the hotel’s ongoing program to promote art and creativity, reinforcing its role as a space where tradition and modern expression coexist in harmony.

Through these experiences, Rosewood San Miguel de Allende reaffirms its commitment to Mexican culture, inviting guests to celebrate life through experiences that awaken the senses, connect with emotion, and honor the memory and legacy of Mexico.
