Café Carlyle is delighted to welcome acclaimed singer-songwriter Madeleine Peyroux for her Café Carlyle debut, October 13 to 17, 2026. Much like Edith Piaf before her, Peyroux began performing as a teenager on the streets of Paris, where she immersed herself in the city’s Latin Quarter music scene and developed the soulful, genre-defying style that would later define her career.
Born in Athens, Georgia, Peyroux spent her formative years busking across Europe with the Lost Wandering Blues and Jazz Band before being discovered in New York and releasing her breakthrough album Dreamland in 1996. Her unmistakable dusky vocals drew comparisons to Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald, cementing her as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary jazz and blues.
Over the course of her celebrated career, Peyroux has collaborated with legendary producer Larry Klein and released a string of critically acclaimed albums, including Careless Love, Half the Perfect World, Bare Bones, and Anthem. Her atmospheric interpretations of classics by Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, and Ray Charles, alongside her deeply personal original work, have earned her worldwide acclaim, sold-out international tours, and honors including BBC International Artist of the Year.
Her ninth album Let’s Walk is arguably the vocalist’s most outspoken, comprising social and political themes - the gospel inspired title track Let's Walk speaks of civil rights, Please Come On Inside addresses homelessness and mental illness, Nothing Personal attacks sexual abuse, and Et Puis concerns privilege as Peyroux points to the well-to-do French parents bestowing their young with apartments. The album was co-produced by guitarist Jon Herington and Madeleine Peyroux.
Known for her intimate live performances and timeless sound blending jazz, blues, folk, and chanson, Peyroux continues to captivate audiences around the world with her emotional depth, effortless sophistication, and enduring artistry.
