Chi Ping Xu, known as “Ping” to his colleagues, has been appointed Managing Director of Rosewood Beijing – the first property in China in the Rosewood Hotels & Resorts® portfolio – effective March 1, 2023.
Ping has held numerous key positions at global hotel brands during his over-two-decade career in the hospitality industry. He first joined Rosewood Beijing as Hotel Manager in 2019 before serving as Managing Director of Rosewood Sanya, in Sanya he led the team to achieve market-leading operational performance despite the significant challenges presented by the pandemic in the last three years.
Ping holds a postgraduate diploma in hotel operations from the IHTTI School of Hotel Management in Neuchatel, Switzerland. In 2000, he pursued his passion for cooking by taking a position as Sous Chef at Hilton London, spending his spare time interning at several Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe. After refining his culinary skills, he was quickly promoted to the position of Chef de Partie at Hilton London Docklands, eventually receiving Hilton’s Chef of the Year award for the UK and Ireland in 2001.
After his stint in the UK, Ping moved to Chicago, USA, in 2002 to take up his role as Executive Sous Chef at The Drake Hotel. From 2007 to 2009, he was Chef de Cuisine at The Peninsula Chicago before returning to China to serve as Executive Sous Chef at The Peninsula Shanghai. He was promoted to Executive Chef at The Peninsula Beijing in 2011. Ping broadened his management experience as Executive Assistant Manager then being promoted to Hotel Manager in three Wanda Reign hotel.
In his new position, Ping looks forward to applying Rosewood’s core principle of “Relationship Hospitality” to the Beijing flagship’s daily operations.
