Rosewood Beijing and the House of Martell come together to introduce a rare opportunity to curate a collection of your own exclusive cognacs at the family’s 16th-century château—and work with leading Chinese artist Li Yong Fei to personalize a special commemorative trunk to contain them.
Combining the twin passions of cognac and art, this exclusive experience for Rosewood Limited Edition brings together the best of both worlds to create the ultimate heirloom—and a three-stage, globe-trotting experience you will never forget. An exclusive partnership between Rosewood Beijing and the House of Martell, this journey to China and France culminates in a final masterpiece: a one-of-a-kind Martell Chanteloup XXO Masterpiece trunk filled with a selection of limited-edition cognacs in custom-designed bottles.
We start in Beijing, where you’ll meet Li Yong Fei, a contemporary painter whose deft blend of traditional ink brush techniques and modern, fashion-driven aesthetics have earned him international renown. After a personal studio tour, you’ll discuss his plans to create your bespoke trunk, which will come with 13 bottles of cognac, including the Martell Chanteloup XXO. Li will design the labels as well as the boxes holding the bottles. And you’ll attend a fête in your honor at Rosewood Beijing, hosted by Li and Martell cellar master Christophe Valtaud
Then, after an overnight stop in Paris at Hôtel de Crillon, it’s off to Cognac itself, specifically the Château de Chanteloup, generations-old seat of the House of Martell which will be privatized for your party alone. The Maison’s Cellar Master Christophe Valtaud will give you and up to six guests a private tour of the cellars, explaining how the juice of Ugni Blanc grapes have been distilled, aged, and blended for centuries to create the world’s most exquisite cognacs. You’ll taste Martell XXO, a harmonious blend of 450 very old eaux-de-vie from the four most prestigious cognac crus, explore the manicured grounds, and dine together under grand tapestries and oil paintings. With the assistance of Christophe Valtaud, you will select two different montres for your trunk: Montre des Années (your choice from six different vintages) and Montre des Aromes (your choice from five different blends). After a night of princely slumber, you’ll return to Paris and then Beijing.
The final chapter takes place six to nine months later, when Li’s Martell XXO Masterpiece trunk is complete. You’ll join the artist and Christophe Valtaud for dinner at Rosewood Beijing and a presentation of your one-of-a-kind trunk. The experience includes accommodations in Beijing House, the 2,000-square-foot Presidential Suite at Rosewood Beijing, as well as the Duc de Crillon Suite at the Hôtel de Crillon in Paris and Château de Chanteloup. Round-trip first-class flights for 2 persons between Beijing and Paris are also included, as are high-speed train tickets between Paris and Cognac.
