Difetto d’Identità is the latest exhibition by Italian-Brazilian artist Lucio Salvatore, curated by Marc Pottier. The show features 12 paintings created over the past two years, in a thoughtful exploration of identity, migration, and ecology.
More than a collection of works, the exhibition proposes a visual language that resists simplification. Archival images, plant portraits, artistic symbols, and everyday fragments intertwine in dense compositions that reveal the complexity of the present and question the boundaries of belonging.
Rather than evoking nostalgia, Salvatore’s works function as visual archaeologies. They organize and reorganize memories, figures, and landscapes into layered narratives that unsettle dominant discourses and affirm the strength of multiple, hybrid, and ever-shifting identities.
