PRESS RELEASES
March 09, 2023
Rosewood Bangkok presents a solo exhibition by abstract expressionist graffiti painter JonOne from 17 March to 16 June 2023, the latest in its quarterly rotating exhibitions showcasing local and international artists.
Featuring never-before-seen artworks inspired by Thailand and created especially for the exhibition, “Thaï Love” opens on 17 March 2023 at The Art Gallery on the 3rd floor of Rosewood Bangkok, where it will remain open to the public for three months. Entry to the exhibition is complimentary.
JonOne started tagging in the 1980s New York during the height of the city’s graffiti movement and where he rubbed shoulders with the likes of Jean Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol at Studio 54. A signature of his art, the streaks of colors pay homage to his roots, representing the movement of subway train graffiti reproduced on canvas. Drawing inspiration from works of masters ranging from Kandinsky to Matisse and Pollock, JonOne’s works are known for their explosions of vibrant colours which breathe life into voids.
