Finding the Extraordinary in the Everyday through Viriya Chotpanyavisut’s lens
April 11, 2025
Bangkok, Thailand – This month, Rosewood Bangkok transforms its third-floor Gallery into a haven of quiet discovery with Moving in Relation, an immersive photographic installation by Viriya Chotpanyavisut. Curated by Gallery VER, the exhibition will run from April 18 to July 15, 2025.
This contemplative installation invites visitors to pause and reflect on the poetry found in life’s often overlooked moments. Viriya’s work flourishes in the unnoticed—in the quiet power of simple gestures, fleeting textures, and ephemeral light. “Look no further than modest phenomena,” the artist says, as his lens captures the beauty most often missed.
Moving in Relation encourages viewers to rediscover the world through their senses. By observing the subtle nuances of the environment, one can unlock new emotions and fresh perspectives. The photographs will be presented within a thoughtfully designed space that amplifies their introspective nature — an invitation to slow down, breathe, and truly see.
This exhibition echoes Rosewood Bangkok’s ongoing commitment to cultivating a “living room” for the city’s artistic community, transforming its Gallery into a gathering place for Bangkok’s creative vanguard.
About the Artist
Born in 1982, Viriya Chotpanyavisut is a photographer who tunes in to the subtle whispers of everyday life. His lens captures the details that often go unnoticed - a spiderweb delicately clinging to a rusted gate or a puddle mirroring the sky like a fleeting portal. A graduate of Rangsit University’s Fine Art Photography program and France’s École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts Paris-Cergy, Viriya explores the interplay between humans and their surroundings with both a scientist’s precision and a poet’s grace. His evocative work has been showcased at esteemed venues such as the Saatchi Gallery in London, Frac Auvergne in France, and MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum in Chiang Mai. In anticipation of his participation in the 2024 Lyon Biennale, Moving in Relation offers an intimate look at his meditative practice, right here in Bangkok.
