Rosewood Washington, D.C., the luxurious urban retreat located in the heart of Georgetown, today unveils six new townhouses as the final and most highly anticipated component of the property’s recent renovation. Built in the 1700s with modern, inspired interiors by locally based and internationally renowned residential designer Thomas Pheasant, the first-of-their-kind accommodations offer an entirely unique guest experience unavailable anywhere else in the city. The new townhouses follow the debut of new dining concepts and revamped public spaces in August 2019, further bolstering the hotel as one of the most discerning destinations in the city.
Situated directly adjacent to the hotel along a picturesque, tree-lined street, the six townhouses provide unparalleled access to the capital city’s most iconic attractions, while simultaneously offering the utmost in privacy. Each approximately 1,100 square feet in size, the four-story, one-bedroom accommodations have been expertly designed to extend an authentic residential experience that grants guests with their own piece of Georgetown. Upon arrival through a private entrance, guests are greeted by a spacious living area adorned with a fully functioning fireplace and locally inspired décor, including a one-of-a-kind, black-and-white photograph of an iconic D.C. landmark taken and produced by Pheasant himself. On the second story, a fully equipped kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances by SMEG, Williams Sonoma, Kitchen-Aid and Nespresso, as well as a communal dining area bathed in natural light, provides direct access to a private, fully furnished back patio. Ascending one floor further, a master bedroom boasts a designer bed with Rivolta Carmignani linens and a separate dressing station, while the topmost story showcases a sprawling three-piece master bathroom with a deep-soaking tub, walk-in rainforest shower and heated marble floors. A lower level additionally features a separate powder room and washer and dryer.
“At Rosewood Washington, D.C., we are constantly looking for opportunities to provide our guests with extraordinary experiences that speak to the sensibilities of the city while maintaining a residential feel,” said Gabor L. Vida, managing director of Rosewood Washington, D.C. “With the addition of our timeless townhouses, we are thrilled to bring this new level of modern luxury to visitors and the community at large. In partnership with the admirable Thomas Pheasant, we’ve created something truly unique in the heart of historic Georgetown, and we look forward to facilitating extraordinary stays for long-term guests, local neighbors and everyone in between.”
In keeping with the ambiance of the hotel, the light-filled accommodations expertly fuse modern style and contemporary furnishings with classic residential design details found within the destination’s most exemplary homes. From traditional molding to intricate marble- and stonework to the size and scale of the townhouse itself, the influence of the immediate locale is omnipresent throughout each accommodation. A clean and neutral color palette of pale platinum tones, complemented by splashes of spring green and cool blue, sets the stage for the six spaces, which are furnished with custom pieces. The interiors are further defined by their curated art collections, entirely unique to each individual townhouse and featuring local artists and subjects from the surrounding metropolitan area.
“Being born and raised in Washington, D.C., I was excited to have this opportunity to bring a new experience to my hometown that simultaneously grants visitors a glimpse into what it is really like to live in this great city,” said Thomas Pheasant. “With each of our design decisions, we aimed to give guests their own little piece of Georgetown and create an intimate escape that emulates the feeling of staying in one of the neighborhood’s historic family homes. It was an incredibly exciting project to be a part of and one that I feel really pushes the boundaries of luxury hospitality in the D.C. area and beyond.”
Combining the comforts of a private home with the amenities and services of an ultra-luxury hotel, the townhouses further afford guests with special privileges and à la carte programming such as in-room spa services, chef-cooked meals and a fully stocked kitchen and bar reflecting visitors’ personal preferences. Additional services include 24-hour in-room dining, access to the property’s gym and rooftop pool and unlimited use of Rosewood’s bespoke bicycles.
The unveiling of the townhouses marks the completion of the property’s larger scale renovation, which earlier introduced new dining concepts by Wolfgang Puck, including CUT D.C., an exciting evolution of the acclaimed CUT concept designed to be reflective of the culinary diversity of the Mid-Atlantic region, and CUT Above, a sophisticated yet sociable rooftop lounge. The renovation further included a redesign to the property’s lobby and library, which beautifully begin the guest journey.
The townhouses are available to book now and can be viewed and reserved online here.
